Wright-Patterson Air Force Base contracted Hardlines Design Company to update a Nation Register of Historic Places (NRHP) nomination for the Wright Brothers Memorial, a monument honoring the accomplishments of Wilbur and Orville Wright. The site overlooks Huffman Prairie Flying Field where the Wright brothers perfected their flying machine and preformed numerous test flights. The memorial, designed by the famed Olmstead Brothers landscape architectural firm, is a designed landscape constructed between 1922 and 1940 with a granite shaft as the focal point. The memorial is a cultural landscape and is directly associated with the Wright Brothers, since Orville Wright participated in the dedication of the memorial.
