Baker Hall Higher Education Architecture, The Ohio State University

Baker Hall
Baker Hall is a student dormitory (originally known as the Men’s Dormitory) that is approximately 72 years old. It has had one addition and numerous renovations since its construction. Hardlines Design Company completed a visual and investigative analysis and assessment of the exterior building envelope of Baker Hall in 2006 that included brick masonry, stone masonry, and sloped slate roofing.

The purpose of the assessment was to identify deficiencies causing moisture infiltration in the masonry exterior walls and slate shingle roof assemblies, and then provide corrective recommendations with cost estimates for phased and prioritized construction. The investigation included drawing review and field inspections (including some destructive testing).
