AFMC AWARDS FIVE MORE BASES TO HARDLINES
Due to continued positive reception of our condition infrastructure survey work for AFMC, the final five bases have been awarded to Hardlines. This makes a grand total of 13 AFMC bases, which include installations in Ohio, Tennessee, New York, Massachusetts, Georgia, Utah, New Mexico, Arizona, Oklahoma, California, Texas, and Florida. "The key to successful field work completion," says Project Architect Charissa Wang, "is scheduling the southern bases in winter!"

FEDERATION OF TEACHERS MOVES INTO NEW OFFICES
HDC completed the renovation of the Columbus offices of the Ohio Federation of Teachers, located at 1251 East Broad Street. The offices are across the street from a house HDC renovated that is now nearing completion. This project consisted of restoring the original entry to a wood finish, new windows, and rehabilitation of the interior.

HARMONY BRICKWORKS EXCAVATION COMPLETED!
Spring excavation of the Harmony Brickworks concluded this March. Staff archaeologists have been busy cleaning and cataloging almost two thousand artifacts. HDC's Industrial Archaeologist Andy Sewell noted that this site utilized the "hot floor" method, a little-known aspect of brickmaking. The site also featured three different eras of technology in one location, which is also extremely rare.

NAVY SENDS HARDLINES TO CRANE NAVAL WEAPONS CENTER
HDC's preservation planning division is now completing building assessments, Integrated Cultural Resources Management Plans, and economic feasibility studies at the Crane Naval Weapons Center in Indiana. The work covers structures in the Administrative District as well as Minefills A and B. Staff Historian Mary Crowe noted that Building 40, built in 1943, is the Navy's first warehouse that was temperature and humidity controlled as well as the largest monolithic concrete building in the country at its time of construction.

BAGLE THE BEAGLE SNOOZES ON
In the interest of showing a current image of Bagle, this shot was captured by sneaking up on Bagle during naptime. Bagle spends most of her time in this position, except lunchtime, when she visits each staff member in the hopes of obtaining a snack. So far, slim pickings with the architects, more success with the archaeologists!

Bagle the Beagle sleeps through office deadlines again, July 2001.
