HDC Leads Deardurff House Archaeology Dig

From December 4-5, 2010, a team of volunteers from HDC organized archaeological investigations at the Deardurff House, a log cabin built ca. 1807 in Franklinton, the oldest section of Columbus, Ohio. The Deardurff House is purported to be the oldest structure in Columbus still on its original foundations. The owner of the house, Walt Reiner, contracted Hardlines Design Company (HDC) to perform archaeological investigations in advance of a major rehabilitation project. No previous archaeological work had previously been performed at the Deardurff House, so HDC principal investigators Anne B. Lee and Andrew R. Sewell prepared a research plan to maximize the amount of data recovered from excavations within the limited time frame of excavations at the site. HDC then paired experienced volunteer archaeologists with interested Columbus residents and high school students.
