HABS/HAER Documentation

Hardlines Design Company's (HDC) work with Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS) and Historic American Engineering Record (HAER) documentation is unparalleled in the country. Our military documentation work on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, appeared in Progressive Architecture magazine, was published in Air Force inventory books and was featured in the National Park Service manual on how to prepare HABS/HAER documentation.

Our company completes all forms of HABS/HAER recordation:

  • Level I:
    • Measured ink-on-mylar or CAD drawings
    • Detailed history of the structure and its context
    • Black-and-white archivally processed photographs
  • Level II:
    • Photographic copies of original construction drawings
    • Detailed history of the structure and its context
    • Black-and-white archivally processed photographs
  • Level III:

Much of HDC's work is available for research in the HABS/HAER Collection at the U.S. Library of Congress. Click below for more information about the collection.
