Doan Brook Evaluation of Historic Places, Cleveland, Ohio

Doan Brook
Landrum & Brown contracted Hardlines Design Company (HDC) to complete evaluation studies for restoration of Doan Brook, which was a natural resource mitigation project associated with runway expansion at Cleveland-Hopkins International Airport. The project included inventory and assessment of all cultural resources located in Cleveland’s Rockefeller Park, including old-growth trees associated with the park’s landscape design. HDC also assessed the adverse impact of the stream restoration work on masonry walls, trees, historic viewsheds, and the historically significant Cleveland Cultural Gardens. In support of the project, HDC prepared technical reports, created maps, coordinated with the Ohio Historic Preservation Office (OHPO) and the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP), and made public presentations. HDC also co-authored a nomination that led to listing of the Rockefeller Park and Cleveland Cultural Gardens Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.
